Accessibility
As of 17 October 2026 · applies to the PrepGuard app on iOS and Android
PrepGuard should be usable by everyone in an emergency. As a micro-enterprise, Barking Cat UG (haftungsbeschränkt) is exempt from the obligations of the German Accessibility Requirements Act (Barrierefreiheitsstärkungsgesetz, BFSG). We publish this statement voluntarily and still follow the European standard EN 301 549, which refers to WCAG 2.1 Level AA for apps.
What the app does today
- Large controls: at least 44 × 44 pt on iOS and 48 × 48 dp on Android.
- Contrast to WCAG AA: at least 4.5 : 1 for body text and 3 : 1 for large text.
- Not colour alone: traffic-light colours and warning levels always carry a symbol or text as well.
- Larger text: the important screens work up to 200 % system font size.
- Screen readers: controls are labelled for VoiceOver and TalkBack, decoration is hidden, and important messages are read out.
- Less motion: animations follow your device’s “Reduce motion” setting.
Known limitations
A full test of all screens with VoiceOver and TalkBack is still outstanding. If you come across a barrier, please let us know.
Reporting barriers
